Mr. Self Destruct - Bowling edition
Well after a long cardio yesterday and a fast weight session, I felt good. Then bowling went pretty good too. Then I woke up today and felt like my back was tied in knots. Early to bed for me tonight I think, and I hope working out tomorrow with rusty can make my back feel a little better. Need to remember to get new shoes.....

Mr. Self Destruct - The Impossible mission part THREE
that part THREE was in my best Resident Evil voice (for you gaming geeks that happen to read this). Well the board said Million dollar baby again, but I was pleasantly surprised when it was Mission Impossible III instead. Action movies, no matter how implausible they are, are more fun to work out to that movie on euthanasia. Just on guy's opinion. The saddest part, the Ben Stiller bit never EVER happens where they jump and in mid air Tom Cruise turns to the camera and says, "This mission just got more impossibler"
Floyd the barber showed up right at the same time I did. We hit 25 mins on the cardio and then pumped iron for around 15 mins, 1 set lower weight, high reps, many exercises. Heart rate seemed to stay up pretty good so if all goes well we will try a similar model the rest of the week on Thursday and Friday. So I am excited to see how this new phase of the Gold's experience goes.

Mr. Self Destruct - Million Dollar Version
OOO-WEEE What Up with that? What up with that? Million Dollar Baby the super funny action comedy was on the screen this morning at Gold's. What's that? That wasn't a comedy? It wasn't meant to be funny? Next you are going to tell me Schindler's List wasn't funny either. What? It wasn't? hhmmmm well maybe at 6:30 movies on euthanasia seem a little more funny than they are meant to be. On a slightly related note, Morgan Freeman has a fantastic voice. It is mesmerizing.
Well Floyd says he is coming to the club in the morning. He couldn't make it today because of work, but he says Tuesday, Thursday and Friday he is going to try and make it. it'll be nice to have someone pump iron with each morning. My thought still is to do mostly cardio with a power body lift with little of no rest to keep the heart pump up. We shall see if this is a good plan or one for failure.

Mr. Self Destruct Movie Review
Man Devon was right, and I am glad I listened to her. Going into the Movie lounge while getting on the treadmill makes the time fly by. So this may make this blog take a turn (worse or better? IDK I guess for you to decide). I think I'll report on the the movie of the day and what the workout was.
Today was Charlie and the Chocolate factory. Too bad for me I caught the last scene, credits, and then the op end few scenes as the movie got restarted at the end. Even so time went by fairly fast. Depp is creepy as Willy Wanka, and I am not sure but I think Hit Girl from the up coming Kick Ass was in it too. Also I got to thinking on the number of times Depp and Marla Singer have been together in flicks. At least 3 with Charlie, Alice and Sweeny Todd. There may be more. I would put Willy Wanka at a "C" to work out to. it was fine but there are better.
Oh and I walked hills on the treadmill and jumped on the elliptical. I guess spin on the eliptical, jumping is for trampolines I think. It was kinda cold in there today, couldn't hardly break a sweat. May wear a sweatshirt next time.
There is also a rumor that Floyd the barber may start waking up int he morning and working out. That could mean, 30 mins of Cardio and them a 15 min total body pump with rest to spot the other only... That would be grand.

Mr Self Destruct Hooter's edition
Maybe the best thing in the world isn't eating wings and drinking beers at Hooters, but the chance to hang with the Troll, Russ, Jamie Lou, Sushi Mama, Zac and Dani, and Tommy and Ashley. I think all had a good time, I know I did.
On the good side though, I did drag my sorry ass out of bed and went to Gold's this morning. Actually tried the cinema room and "The Three Musketeers" was on the screen. It was entertaining enough I put an extra 10 minutes in on the elliptical after walking on the treadmill. Jack Bauer looked the same, strangely enough Charlie Harper did too....

Mr. Self Destruct
So I have been weighing myself every morning. Which is a little odd as I am a fan of "let your clothes tell you how much weight you have lost". Interesting to see how there can be huge ups and down from day to day and week to week. Almost more interesting to me, it that I can have a pig out day and then that seems to spur on a little more loss than before. I am thinking that is the key. Be sensible and keep the gluttonous days to a minimum.

Mr. Self destruct, week 3
SO I got an e-mail from my good friend Ty asking me to play footy with him and his buds. And my pathetic reply was this:
Maybe this will be a goal for the next season, being able to play a sport with others again...... who knows..
Footy- As much as this pains me to say and admit now to another person... I
can't run anymore Ty. I am too effing fat. I am down roughly 25 pounds from a
year ago to 275, I think I need to lose another 40 before my little legs can
take the pounding. This is a hard/embarrassing thing to admit to for me. I used
to be.. once could... Won championships in... played college... My shins hurt
after walking on a treadmill. I can't see myself being able to do it in any way.
Now on the flip side I am going to the gym 4 days a week and sweating 4 days a
week. I am hoping in 3 months to see if I cantt have a few more LBs off, but
right now footy is a no go for me.
Maybe this will be a goal for the next season, being able to play a sport with others again...... who knows..

Mr Self Destruct - feet
Well, I knew my shoes sucked but this has gotten a tad silly, I have now worn a hole in the bottom of my right foot. Right at the ball of the foot. That makes walking biking, running not fun at all. Took the last two days off. So easy to fall off the tracks but I hope a few more days and all will be good to hit it hard Monday morning.
Monday I hope to try the movie room while on the treadmill. Maybe that will take the boring away....

Mr Self Destruct
Up and at it again this morning.
I am thinking that 1 more month of strictly tread milling is the plan I am going to stick to. Running is out of the question as walking kills my shins. And now the education part of today. Don't go to gordman's and buy shoes to workout in, they will kill your feet. My other workout shoes were dieing and one day a while back I forgot them, so gordman's was next door so I got a pair. They seemed fine at first, but the longer I wear then the worse they seem. I see a new pair of Lawn mowing shoes in my future.
So mid April, I think I will mix back in a solid amount of weight training, right now once a week I do a weight blitz where I just do a quick pump to failure on like 10 exercises. Not sure it is helpful, but its my plan and I am sticking to it.

I am Mr Self Destruct
Well a weekend of excess seems to have undone anything from the previous week, but I am no looking at it this way. Before it would have been a week of excess followed by a weekend of excess. Maybe that was excessive, IDK.
Treadmill stayed on for the full 25 minutes this morning. Tried not to use the heart rate hand grips, the last few trips to 18.5 degrees I had to, poor shins felt like they were going to explode. It was an entirely different workout alking with no holding on, not sure it is was better, but it was different.
On a different note, not sure which is worse, no sun in the morning or no sun at night... ugh

Mr Self Destruct 5 days in a row
Was at Gold's at 6:15 this morning. I swear if that effing treadmill just stops onemore time in the middle of a work out I am going to freak, today it was in the middle of my 19 degree assent, that was fun to start back up on. Next goal, to not use the hand holds on the elevation climbs. so this week, sweated 4 times, brought my lunch 3 times, and only had 2 diet soda, and a few beers. better than a case of coke, 12 pitchers of beer, and 10 large pizzas... Oh what will the weekend hold in store?

Mr. Self Destruct 4 days in a row
I think running is a bad idea for me. jogging, or yogging I believe it is a soft "J", may be a little closer but I am really getting close to the old guy run walk ass out thing. I had a coach in high school that did that. Looked funny at the time, now it seems quite sensible. Was back at the club this morning, already had a couple glasses of water, was in bed by 11:15 last night, was out of bed by 6:15, made my lunch again, eating lots of fruit, it still seems that veggies are what I am missing, I think I'll have to start working them into dinner.
I will say that Gold's was strangely quite this morning, not that is matters to me. Must remember to get my i-pod charged up and in working order. Things seems to go faster and easier with music in your ears. IMO.
Not sure how many days you have to do something to make it a habit, but now playing WoW until 2AM most nights seems to be a healthy thing for me, and probably my wrists.

Mr Self Destruct 3 days in a row
hmmm working out, sensible lunch, then beer and pretzels at Bowling League. Then up way too late playing Warcraft. Then up late for work. It is a strange cycle, but I do see it and see the reasons for it. I think once bowling is over in a month and a half the threat of a Tuesday night blowout will be greatly reduced. Tomorrow, back up at 6AM and to Gold's a a workout. I have to think that 1 day like that a week, has to be better than 5 of them for me. And heck only had 4 beers instead of 4 pitchers :) Must get more water in me must put less beer in...

Mr Self Destruct - 2 days in a row
Not sure what I am attempting to do with this place. I guess maybe it will make an easy reference to see where things went off the tracks or maybe stayed on them. Maybe a place that maybe someone else can see that if he can do I can too. I am just not sure, so I think i will just play it by ear.
My 35th birthday is coming up and maybe for the first time since I am making an attempt to be smaller than I was the previous year. Seems odd to write, but I think it is a fair goal.
Was at Gold's again this morning. I had an epiphany, or at least a change in philosophy. Maybe stacking Creatine, protein, glutamine, GABAs and repping weight isn't the greatest and easiest way to weight loss. Maybe just maybe striving to press out 315 isn't all that helpful really. So for the next few weeks I am going to focus on cardio, specifically the incline treadmill and elliptical runners. Two days in, and things are going good.
Food intake I have changed too. No pop, man do I really have a liking for sodas of all kinds. But after reading the labels they have to be poison for you. Fruit for breakfast. Fruit and a sandwich for lunch. and it is looking like vegetables are what is missing the most right now. I think I will need to come up with a creative way to get the veggies into the diet. Water throughout the day. For dinner? I guess what would be called sensible dinner. No need to stuff one's self to the point of being miserable.
I'd like to give this a month and see what the outcome of this little experiment is. Polly should get my weight and blood pressure reading. I think those, the second on in particular, will be good barometers of the effects of this attempt.

Mr Self Destruct
Big changes. Big Changes indeed! A few things that I am going to get accomplished.
1) Be in bed by 11 at the latest if at all possible.
2) work out before work at 6:15
3) be into work by 7:45
4) Make and bring in my lunch at least 3 times each week.
5) no more soda. Diet or regular. Just Water.
So far so good. It isn't like I haven't been working out. I used up 24 training sessions at Gold's over the last 3 months and Just took a week off and am now ready to hit it.
Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday mornings. I think this should be a successful plan for me.
No more cheese burgers, no more soda pop breaks in the afternoons, no more trips to vendo-land.
So far 1 day in and already I like it :) At work hours earlier than I have been and getting lots done.... See you are reading the fruits of my labors...
This should result in: Less weight, More Energy, Less Money spend, More productive time.
